Investors from Turkey are surveying options to invest on the industry of hides and skins in Juba, Central Equatoria state.

A team led by Hayri Payram met the state minister for Animal Resources and Fisheries, Gerald Francis, to manifest their interest to invest in the sector, Bakhita Radio reported.

The Turkey investors visited Juba’s main slaughter house to assess the number and quality of hides and skins produced at the facility.

They said the company was ready to operate in Juba if the sector produced at least 300 hides and skins per day.

Minister Francis told the Turkish team that Juba has five official slaughter houses besides many illegal places.

He said the city could provide twice the needed quantity if locals realized the commercial value of hides and skins.

The investors visit the slaughter house on Wednesday again in order to demonstrate how to slaughter, skin and salt the animal skins and hides for better quality.
