Tonj East has calmed down after cattle raiding clashes that spread insecurity and death in the area.

Tonj East Commissioner Madhol Chol Thuc said on Monday that payams of Tonj East have calmed down considerably despite of some border insecurity due to criminals from Unity and Lakes states, Dom Bosco FM reported.

He said violence stopped since January 14 when six people were killed and 15 injured at the Lara Cattle Camp shooting.

The commissioner said he discussed two main issues with Governor Nyandeng Malek Deliec during her visit to the county: the boreholes were not enough and the road between Tonj South and Tonj East needed urgent repairs.

Mr Chol urged all citizens from the three counties of Greater Tonj to remain calm and peaceful while insecurity is resolved by the authorities.
