South Sudan and Kenya have reached an understanding that students of the two countries do not need visas to cross the borders.

Eastern Equatoria State Minister for Cabinet and Parliamentary Affairs Clement Chichim Loku told the State Legislative Assembly on Wednesday that the Kenyan Government agreed to offer free visas to South Sudanese students, Radio Emmanuel reported.

He said the students were required to use their school identity cards or other relevant school documents for crossings border points.

Mr Loku said the Government of Eastern Equatoria is planning to reach similar negotiation with Uganda to allow free movement of students.

He said the problem of visa will be resolved for every citizen when South Sudan joins the East African Community.

The minister was briefing the State Assembly on a peace meeting held at Lokichokio between South Sudan and Kenya.
