MINISTER URGES PRIVATE SCHOOLS TO FOLLOW NATIONAL PROGRAMMES

The Western Equatoria State Education Minister has urged authorities of private schools to adhere to the new national government reforms programmes.

This came during a meeting between State Education Minister Pia Philip Michael and the directors of private schools on Thursday, Anisa Radio reported.

Ms Philip urged the directors to follow the unified South Sudan curriculum and calendar, asking all private schools to register and obtain operation licenses.

Fr John Peter, headmaster of Comboni Primary School in Maridi, proposed creation of a new secondary school in Maridi.

The Minister approved and promised to support the new school with teachers.

38 private schools’ representatives from the ten Counties attended the meeting at the state Ministry of General Education in Yambio.

The meeting discussed and agreed on general strategies to promote quality education across the state.
