The Equity Bank national staff from its three branches in Juba on Thursday demonstrated over payment increase, overtime, promotions and transport allowances.
Over 50 bank staff wrote a letter on January 14 to the management asking for a response to their demands within three days.Director-General for Labour and Industrial Relationship at the national Labour Ministry, Clement Philemon Boyume, told journalists after the meeting that his ministry listened to the issues raised by the staff.
He added the ministry asked the staff to resume work on Friday while the ministry and the bank management looked for a way forward.
Equity Bank Managing Director Paul Gitahi said the management had a healthy dialogue with the staff to resolve the demands that they raised.
He said the bank was going to respond to the demands and within 30 days the management would come up with a comprehensive solution.
All the three branches of Equity Bank South Sudan in Hai Malakal, Bilpam and Juba town were brought to a standstill due to a national staff strike demanding better pay.
