The governor of Lakes State ordered those possessing guns to immediately surrender them to the Government or to local chiefs.
Chol Tong Mayay said after his arrival from Juba on Thursday that he regretted the killing of SPLA soldiers by civilians of Cueibet County, Good News Radio reported.He declared serious disarmament in the State wide and warned youth involved in cattle rustling end the practice.
Eng Tong advised armed people to peacefully hand over their guns to the authorities.
He said the coming disarmament will be different and the government will not spare armed people.
The governor announced that the disarmament of civilians will begin in Rumbek and Cueibet counties.
