The Governor of Warrap State together with a delegation from the Ministry of Health, UMMISS, Minister of education and other officials visited Tonj South County on Tuesday.
Nyandeng Malek said she visited Tonj to acquaint herself with the issues of insecurity in the area and cattle raiding which led to killings and displacement of the people, Don Bosco Radio reported.She called on the people to stop killing each other and live in peace.
Ms Malek said peace would only be achieved when both sides stopped seeking revenge.
She added that the fighting must stop so that people can open up the schools to the students.
Ms Malek pledged to send medical doctors to both Tonj and Jak Payams to treat serious cases instead of sending those people to Wau.
The Minister of Health led UMMISS, the UN representative, a human right and anticorruption representative to Aguka Boma.
Aguka Boma administrator, Mary Michael, cited challenges including lack of water, proper roads, medicine, teachers, telephone networks and insecurity.
Aguka Boma chief John Njur Dichol called for protection from the cattle raiders.
He warned that more people from Aguka will move to Tonj to get services.
Aguka Boma community leader Mayen Dangano asked the delegation to reconcile the people fighting so that the people of Aguka can return to their homes and live in peace.
Health minister Solomon Angui appreciated people of Aguka Boma promising to take all concerns to the Governor for resolutions.
