Western Bahr Ghazal Education Ministry unveiled the new uniforms for school children in a bid to distinguish learners in the government schools and impose decency in dressing.
The Director of Gender in the state Ministry of Education, Helena Henry Tadiwa, described the new colours as dirty-tolerable, Voice of Hope reported.She said girls will be wearing skirts to avoid indecent styles.
Pupils in primary schools used to wear blue shirts and brown trousers and skirts while secondary school students used to wear white shirts and black trousers and skirts.
Ms Henry explained that all secondary schools students will wear brown trousers and skirts and white shirts while technical students will wear black trousers and skirts and white shirts.
She said the next phase is to present those uniforms to the parents through the Parent-Teacher Association and school directors by the end of this month for further discussion.
The new uniforms were disclosed during a workshop meant to improve quality of education and shall be introduced in the coming of academic year.
