Yei River County workers on Monday received two months arrears of 2009.

A worker who declined to be named said the payment came after workers demonstration last year, Radio Easter reported.

The assistance commissioner for Animal Resources and Fisheries, Milton Simaya Samuel, said that he was not 100 percent happy though they got half payment of the 2009 arrears.

He urged the government to pay the remaining two months arrears to the workers as soon as possible.

Sunday Charity Moses, one of the workers in the County headquarters, said she was happy for getting half payment for their four months arrears.

She asked the government to pay the two months arrears so that they pay their children’s school fees.

Peter Amule of the department of Commerce and Supply said he was happy because the government responded positively to their cries and could resume their duties normally.

Sabina Muro Paul called on the government not to delay paying workers for four months because it is not helpful.
