Kalkada Model Primary School pupils of Nuba Mountains are advocating for their rights to education.

On Friday, a group of boys and girls said they were denied the rights by parents to study and revise their work at homes.

Boys complained of being sent to look after animals after school, while girls complained of being forced to domestic works which hinder them from revising their books.

Some children reported that they dropped out of the school because they did not pay fees and received proper attention from their parents.

They also accused parents of encouraging early marriage which does not allow girls to finish their education.

Some girls lamented that they were prevented from going abroad for studies simply because they were female.

Education Authorities in the region said education was part of liberation and that children should be sent to school despite of hardships in the region.

The children made their remarks before the deputy head teacher, the head of the village and some parents in the school.
