Members of the Eastern Equatoria State Assembly continue to be absent from sessions despite of threats by the speaker to cut on sitting allowances.

Eleven MPs failed to turn up for an extraordinary session on Friday, Radio Emmanuel reported.

Speaker Ambrose Emmanuel Ocholimoi reiterated the decision of the Assembly Business Committee to deduct allowances of absent MPs.

He said that each MP received 450 Pounds as monthly sitting allowance and would get a cut of 37.50 pounds for every absence.

Speaker Ocholimoi threatened MPs to deduct the sitting allowances since last year but it did not worry legislators whose chairs remained vacant at every sitting.

The House had to continue adjourning sessions due to lack of quorum for the sittings.
