A newly registered national NGO said ay it wants to take care of the soldiers’ children to educate them to be better citizens rather than joining the army.
Operation and project director David Jacob explained to CRN over the phone that the Kiir Child Soldier Foundation was a gift to the army from South Sudanese citizens who finished their studies in Kenya and Uganda. He said while the soldiers were defending the country they were studying is East Africa. Now they wanted to pay back to the army by helping educate their kids to be better citizens.
Mr Jacob said children living in the military barracks have no other option to life but the army and when they are asked to draw any object, they draw guns.
He stressed that the Kiir Child Soldier Foundation focused on the children of soldiers whether alive or dead.
He added that children living in military barracks have enough potential to do something else in a better environment.
Mr Jacob said the South Sudanese Diaspora wanted to help the people of South Sudan in order to feed themselves rather than being spoon-fed.
