Upper Nile Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Rural Development gave a 72-hour ultimatum to a Chinese constructor to get back to work on Malakal roads.
Bol Ruach Doum told Voce of Love that Sun Hydro either started the second phase of works until Saturday or would lose the contract.Sun Hydro started last year to prepare Malakal’s main roads of to be cemented after the rainy season.
The ultimatum was given on Thursday after the minister met with the Sun Hydro director, state finance minister Ayoung Aweir and director general James Twang.
Mr Ruach said Kano National Company won a contract to build 27 kilometres of roads in Upper Nile and started well.
He said some officials went to inspect the works and were happy with what Kano was doing.
Malakal roads become a river of mud during the rainy season and the Government wants to build modern tarmac or cement roads to ease movements.
