Central Equatoria State has opened its first cooperative shop in Konyo Konyo Market, in Juba, in a bid to bring food prices down and sell local products.
Cooperative and rural development state minister Michael Tongun Martin said the shop sells locally produced goods at 30 to 40 percent lower prices, Bakhita Radio reported.He announced that Juba will have ten cooperative shops in a short time.
Mr Tongun encouraged the public to buy from cooperative shops in order to save some pounds.
He advised consumers to visit the cooperative shops and tell what kind of products they would like to find on the shelves.
Mr Tongun announced that the cooperative shops will be opened in the six counties of Central Equatoria.
He said Terekeka will open next because the county has its facilities ready, including stores.
