140 teachers registered for the in-service training offered by the Solidarity Teachers Training College in Yambio that started on Monday.
Principal Margret Scott told Anisa Radio that the teachers in training are distributed in four years: 60 in year one, 31 in year two, 23 in year three and 26 in year four.She said those in year four conclude their training at the end of February and become fully graduated teachers.
Sr Margret explained that the demand for training was great and the College had to build two extra classrooms to accommodate all the candidates.
The principal said STTC-Yambio was responding to the huge need of trained teachers in the country.
The teachers under training in Yambio come from Western Equatoria, Rumbek, Juba, Tali and Nuba Mountains.
The in-service training takes place in January and February each year while the pre-service starts in March.
