The Council of Ministers expressed reservations to the report signed by the head of the African Union Panel and the Ethiopian Prime Minister about the outcome of the presidential summit in Addis Ababa.

President Salva Kiir Mayardit of South Sudan and his counterpart Omar al Bashir of Sudan met on Friday and Saturday in the Ethiopian capital to overcome some problems with the implementation of cooperation agreements signed in September.

Government spokesman Barnaba Marial Benjamin told the press after the extraordinary meeting that the ministers took note of the report with certain reservations.

He said South Sudan needs to present some inputs in certain areas of implementation in the form of discussion.

Dr Marial described the presidential summit as a step forward to build up confidence between the two countries and their leaders.

Dr Marial revealed that the council of ministers gave the green light to the census project presented by the Chairperson of the National Bureau of Statistics, Isaiah Chol.

He recalled that the Transitional Constitution says the census should be done in 2014 and preparations must start now.

President Kiir chaired the extraordinary meeting and briefed the minsters on his talks with President Bashir in Addis Ababa.
