Tombura County of Western Equatoria received over 500 Internal Displaced Persons or IDPs from Wau, Western Bahr El Ghazal State, since Dec 27, 2012.
Tombura County Press Secretary David Bakundiri reported to Anisa Radio that Tombura County Relief and Rehabilitation Commission registered 529 people who travelled 260 Kilometres from Wau seeking refuge.IPD Julietta Gabriel said she left Wau for Tombura on December 27 with her 13 children without taking any food or other belongings because the lorry was full of people.
She thanked the people of Tombura County for their warm welcome.
Tombura resident Raphael Sigasi complained that his daily expenses skyrocketed because he hosts 18 IDPs at home.
He said he needed every day one bucket of cassava flour and three gallons of peanuts to feed his guests.
Tombura County Commissioner Charles Babiro Gbamisi appreciated his people for being generous.
He said all IDPs were staying in homes of friends and relatives.
Commissioner Babiro called upon the residents to support to the refugees and avoid discrimination.
He ensured the refugees a safe environment to stay in Tombura County.
