The Presidents of South Sudan and Sudan agreed on Saturday to demarcate the borders between the two countries and establish the administrative, legislative and police bodies in Abyei.

Salva Kiir Mayardit and Omar Hassan Al Bashir held a two-day summit in Addis Ababa on Friday and Saturday to overcome the difficulties with the implementation of nine cooperation agreements they signed last September.

The AU said in a statement issued on Sunday that Kiir and Bashir also agreed to implement matters relating to the disputed areas.

The two presidents agreed agreed to follow a timetable to be prepared by January 13 by the AU Panel for the “speedy, unconditional, and coordinated implementation” of all the agreements sign on September 27 2012.

Kiir and Bashir agreedÊ to meet again to discuss the final status of Abyei as soon as the different bodies are established in the area.
