The Commissioner of Pibor County in Jonglei State said the security situation in the area was normal since the beginning of the year.
Joshua Konyi told CRN on Friday over the phone that on December 31 David Yau Yau’s forces clashed with civilians in Kengen area when the rebels tried to loot property and kill cattle.He said the County celebrated the Christmas and entered the New Year in peace.
The Commissioner called on the citizens of Pibor and of Jonglei State to live in peace and leave behind tribalism and cattle rustling.
Pibor County is experiencing insecurity since August due to Yau Yau’s rebellion.
