Voters who turned up for mock elections in Rumbek appreciated the event saying it helped them see and know what to do during the real elections.
Isaac Macuor Majak told Good News Radio that the mock election motivated him to take part in the elections, and he will encourage all those close to him to turn up and cast their ballots.
The acting Governor of Lakes State, Mr. Telar Ring Deng, assured voters that there will be secutiry, and that only the authorized security personnel drawn from Auxilliary Police Force will be allowed to carry fire arms at the polling stations.
Ms Mary Mathon Dabai, an elections officer for Matangai Constituency, told Good News Radio that security of voters is of paramount importance, adding that she expects the event of elections to be successful.
An official from NEC requested the governor not to involve the army during the polls.
Lakes State has had repeated cases of armed conflict between the Sudan People’s Liberation Army and the civilian population. Disarmament of civilians was initiated before the election with the intention to get collect as many arms as possible from the civilians.
