South Sudanese girls in the leadership training being conducted by the Mercy Beyond Borders (MBB) in Narus are on Tuesday practicing communication skills.

Guided by Sr. Marilyn Lacey, the Executive Director MBB, they are interviewing each other and presenting reports about their colleagues.

Alice Pipoma Liria, aged 19, reported about Deborah Achol who spent all her 22 years in Mapuordit Village in Lakes State and travelled to Narus for the first time.

Keji Vionzy reported about Scholastica Nodya, recalling Nodya’s parents’ struggles for her education.

Susan Akongo was reporting about Golda Akuch troubles right from the time she was in her mother’s womb and challenges her mother faces in educating her siblings.

Rebecca Muraa wsa reporting about a 19-year-old, Betty Achien who was born during in Chukdum’s drought and her parents witnessed people dying from famine.

Regina Achai reported about Margaret Akoo’s birth in Ethiopia and her deep sense of gratitude to Sr. Edvine Tumwesigye who connected her to the MBB’s scholarship program.

Cecilia Karama spoke about the 20-year old Grace Atapkwo’s desire of becoming a medical doctor while Margaret Adio reported about Agnes Abaa’s spirit of perseverance and focus pointing that she was the only girl who completed Primary school.

The MBB girls are in Narus for a one-week training on leadership and basic computer skills facilitated by Sr. Edvine Tumwesigye of Mary Mother of the Church and Brother Dan Emmanuel Apeu of St. Martin de Porres.
