The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of El Obeid has on Friday visited Yida Refugee Camp in Unity State, South Sudan.
The visit was to celebrate the feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary.Bishop Gassis while presiding over the Eucharistic celebration invited the community to continue praying for God’s protection because this is the only way to prevent the evil and to end the violence.
Bishop Gassis said people should avoid evil and come together as human beings to bring peace and harmony.
He added that the community should pray for the gift of peace in the region especially during the Christmas time in order to impede the suffering and bloodshed of the Nuba people.
The Bishop lamented lack of development in the Nuba Mountains due to the ongoing war.
Bishop Gassis wished the community a Blessed and Happy Feast, and remarked that Jesus Christ is the Way to Salvation.
The Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, celebrated on Saturday 8 December, was attended by a large number of Sudanese refugees living at Yida Camp.
Bishop Macram Max Gassis arrived in Yida on Friday, December 7th from Nairobi and was welcomed by a great number of Christians and non Christians.
