One of the South Sudanese Muslim pilgrims who travelled to Saudi Arabia during the Pilgrimage season revealed that South Sudanese managed to clear their image in the Islamic World.

Musa Mohammed Dhahia, popularly known as Abu Kalam, was one of seven pilgrims from Western Bahr El Ghazal State who received a free pilgrimage sponsorship from President Salva Kiir Mayardit.

He said people of Saudi were surprised to see Muslims from the newly born South Sudan participating in the season.

Mohammed explained that he was told that Sudan was painting an image of wars and conflicts out of the new country to the Muslim World.

He added the pilgrims were able to correct and clear the bad image painted about South Sudan.

Mohammed said that they were assured by Saudi Arabia that they will be helped in various fields especially in pilgrimages.

Mohammed urged his fellow Muslims to be ready for the next season and give a positive image of South Sudan of peaceful co-existence and religious freedom.

He appreciated the Office of the President for sponsoring their journey to the Holy Islamic Land.

Mohammed urged the authorities to decentralize the document processing for immigration purposes.
