Eastern Equatoria State Parliament in Torit has approved on Wednesday a loan of sixty million US dollars for construction of water supply and mini-hydro electricity power.
Tobiolo Tiberius Oromo, the Chief Whip of the Parliament moved the motion for the passing of the loan request.Ben Loki said the loan could be passed because the Assembly has not yet passed Appropriation Bill of the state Budget, but no one seconded the idea.
The Deputy Speaker of the Assembly while presiding over the debate, ruled passing of the loan.
The State Minister for Housing and Public Utility, Benaiah Benjamin Kitara said the state government has signed Hydro-electric power and water supply Agreement with Sino Hydro Company Limited from China.
Benaiah said EXHIM Bank of China is to facilitate the loan payment for the hydro electric power and water supply at Kineti River for Torit town consumption.
