The Youth Coordination Office in the Catholic Diocese of Wau has concluded its first Catholic youth conference under the theme “Youth towards the Life of Light”.

The conference, which brought together 80 youth from all the parishes of the diocese, came out with some important resolutions on how to promote the active role of youth in the church, society and leadership.

Joseph Moses, the conference facilitator, said he believes in youth as being full of talents.

He explained that their meeting in peace building and reconciliation among the communities is a key message for the society.

He added that the Church is investing in building up the skills of the youth in the Diocese so that they can know their role in the church and in the country.

Mr. Moses is confident that the youth have also benefited a lot from what has been given to them.

He encouraged the youth to go back and share what they have learned with their parishioners.

Mr. Moses noted that the Church wants youths and the communities to know that it is not again politics but against discrimination and lack of respect for human dignity.

Diocesan Youth Coordinator Fr. Romano Louis Mangu, encouraged the youth to be a sign of peace in their areas.

He appealed to youth in all parishes and non-Christian communities to participate in peace building and fight the bad ideas that bring problems in the society.

Bishop Rudolf Deng Majak presided over the closing of the four days conference on Thursday at St. Mary Cathedral in Wau during the Solemnity of Christ the King.
