Sudan’s air force mounted a surprise attack against South Sudan bombing Kiir Adem, in Aweil North County of Northern Bahr El Ghazal.
Army spokesperson Philip Aguer Panyang told CRN over the phone that the air raid took place on Tuesday afternoon, about 2:00 PM.
He said one boy was killed and two women, one child and one man were seriously wounded in the attack.
Colonel Aguer said the attack came as a surprise since South Sudan and Sudan were implementing the cooperation agreement inked on September 27 in Addis Ababa.
He said the army was waiting instructions from the civil leaders to react to the attack.
The spokesperson added that the SPLA was ready to defend the country against any land incursion by Sudanese forces along the borders.
President Salva Kiir Mayardit cancelled a visit to Renk after the airstrike on Kiir Adem.
