UNICEF, the United Nations Children Fund, has urged the Government of South Sudan to ratify global treaties that protect children’s rights.
UNICEF Representative Elizabeth Quaye also called on South Sudan to guarantee its commitment to children.She said UNICEF was urging the Government of South Sudan to ratify the Convention on the Rights of the Child to safeguard the present and secure the future of all children in the republic.
The UN official explained that children were the most precious future of South Sudan.
Ms Quaye called on the Government of South Sudan to keep investing on children.
She reiterated UNICEF’s commitment to support the Government to ratify the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Ms Quaye was speaking at the commemoration of the twenty third anniversary of the Convention of the Rights of the Child in Juba on Tuesday.
The occasion drew together many people including pupils, MPs, government dignitaries and media people.
