The National Bureau of Statistics celebrated on Monday African Statistics Day under the theme “Making every man, woman, boys and girls count; engendering statistics for better development outcomes.”
Isaiah Chol, who heads the Bureau, said some statistics agencies across Africa had becomes centres of excellence in the production of statistical information key for policy makers, researchers and others, Bakhita Radio reported.He explained that a country that recognised the needs of statistical information invested wisely.
Mr Chol added that the Government of South Sudan recognised the importance of statistics information and created units in every ministry.
He said the National Bureau of Statistics has to rely on partners for funds.
Mr Chol said the Bureau and other statistics agencies are providing information data on gender in South Sudan.
He promised that the Bureau will work harder to make sure gender statistics are provided to fulfil users’ requirements.
The celebration of African Statistics Day drew different partners from UN agencies, African Union and officials from different ministries.
