The Governments of South Sudan and Sudan agreed to fly 1,400 returnees from Khartoum into various states of Greater Bahr el Ghazal.
Relief and Rehabilitation Commission or RRC chairperson Peter Lam Both told the press in Juba that the first flight with 50 returnees arrived Wednesday in Aweil, Bakhita Radio reported.The RRC Chairperson thanked the African Island Church for helping his commission to fly 2,000 returnees to various states of South Sudan using Juba, Aweil and Malakal airports.
Mr Lam said his commission completed arrangements to bring by land stranded South Sudanese in Kosti.
He said the commission started the transportation as soon as rains were over.
Mr Lam explained that the railway was not safe due to continuous clashes between SPLA-N and Sudanese forces along the route.
