A health practitioner alerted the population that stigma is killing many victims of HIV AIDS in South Sudan.

Carlina Denya works at a Red Cross Home based Care Voluntary and Counselling Test Centre. She told Bakhita Radio that many HIV victims refuse to show up for treatment due to fear of discrimination.

She advised HIV victims not to wait for death but visit test centres in order to get treatment and lead productive lives.

Ms Denya said the number of HIV infected people was increasing on a daily basis.

She added that relatives discriminate AIDS patients insulting and isolating them and some commit suicide.

Ms Denya advised HIV victims to go for counselling and treatment in order to continue living well.
