INTERNATIONAL FORUM ALARMED WITH HUMAN RIGHTS IN SUDAN, SOUTH SUDAN

The participants in the Sudan and South Sudan Conference wrote in the final document that they were alarmed by the severe human rights violations, the humanitarian situation and suffering of people in many parts of the Sudan and in parts of South Sudan.

The Sudan and South Sudan Conference took place in Germany from October 31 to November 2 and attracted 120 participants from 14 countries representing Sudanese and South Sudanese civil society and political parties, faith based organisations and International NGOs.

The participants committed themselves to step up efforts to reconcile and to safeguard a peaceful transition and future for all people in Sudan and South Sudan.

They expressed concern over the lack of development and the worsening humanitarian situation in many places in Sudan and South Sudan.

The participants urged the Governments in Sudan and South Sudan as well as international and national NGOs to regard the needs of the people with long term and flexible development programs.
