A convoy of barges carrying 900 returnees with their possessions left Renk on a two-week trip to Juba.

International Organization for Migrations or IOM organized the trip. The agency said in a statement that almost 14,000 returnees were still in three transit camps in Renk waiting for transport to their final destinations.

IOM said this was the sixth convoy it organized between Renk and Juba this year transporting some 36,000 stranded returnees.

Medical staff screened the returnees boarding the barges to check their fitness to travel and to prevent the spread of diseases.

Children under five received vaccines against measles and polio, and received a Vitamin A supplement to boost immunity.

Forty-five very vulnerable people, including pregnant women and people suffering from arthritis, pneumonia, severe acute malnutrition other ailments were transported by air.
