Managers of a building company under investigation are playing hide and seek with officials from Eastern Equatoria roads ministry.

Minister Charles Lokonoi last week was with a team on a tour monitoring road and bridges works in Greater Kapoeta.

Ê

He told Radio Emmanuel that his team together with UN officials were chasing managers from MacDowell construction Company to find out why they failed to complete the Chukudum junction to Nadapal road after receiving funds.

He says the managers were at the site but ran away when they saw the monitoring party and disappeared for two days.

Mr Lokonoi said the monitoring team was involved on a day-long chase from Kapoeta to Torit but the MacDowell administration is nowhere to be found.

The minister explained that the monitoring team compiled a report with its findings to be forwarded to the national ministry of roads and transport to terminate MacDowell’s contracts in the state.

He said the national roads ministry did not know about the MacDowell contract for the Chukudum-Nadapal road.

The fact finding team discovered that MacDowell diverted the road funds for private use and built only less than one kilometre of road.

Eastern Equatoria Assembly resolved to terminate the MacDowell contract earlier based on reports of poor workmanship.

Radio Emmanuel contacted MacDowell resident Manager by phone for comments, but the receiver claimed to be a student of Juba University and said it was a wrong number.
