Travellers between Juba and Yei are complained about transport fees charged by public carriers.

Jimmy Francis, a worker of Ministry of Commerce and Industry, told Easter Radio that the transport fee is expensive and it hinders the movement of low income workers.

He said a passenger travelling from Juba to Yei pays 80 Pounds and between Yei and Juba 70 pounds plus some extras for luggage.

Mr Francis said the prices went up because the road is very bad and there are fewer vehicles transporting people between Yei and Juba.

He added that common fuel shortages are also to blame.

One traveller who asked to keep her identity said the price charged was okay taking into account the bad state of the road.

Ampelio Emmanuel Kenyi, who chairs Yei Taxi Park, said the price went up at the end of September after drivers complained about fuel shortages and bad road.

He added that the price should go down next month after the road was repaired.
