A national NGO trained a number of widows and orphans in Yei River County and provided them with some equipment to order to earn a living.

The program trained 20 widows and ten orphans with funds from the United Nations Voluntary Trust Fund on Contemporary Forms of Slavery in partnership with Widows for Peace through Democracy-UK.

Executive director of Forum for Community Change and Development Anne Kyomugisha told Radio Easter that widows and orphans were the most vulnerable groups to socio-economic problems in the community.

She said Yei scored the biggest number of widows and orphans in a research in Central Equatoria.

Ms Kyomugisha said the equipments included sewing machines and candle production machines.

Rhoda Amoyi, one of the trainees, said she appreciated the organization for the two-week training.

She appealed to her fellow widows no to turn down any chance that might come their way.
