The SPLM announced last evening that its candidate for the top position in the republic was withdrawing from the presidential race.
SPLM Deputy Chairman Riek Machar told journalists in Khartoum that the party decided that Yasir Arman should end his campaign for the presidency due to electoral irregularities and the Darfur conflict.The SPLM announced it was also pulling out from legislative elections in Darfur.
Dr. Machar flew to Khartoum with Mr. Arman after the SPLM Political Bureau met in Juba.
