Civil authorities and security elements mounted roadblocks to prevent civilians to leave Kadugli as the SPLA-N forces shelled the South Kordofan capital for the second time on Tuesday.
A local source told CRN that civilians in Kadugli were trapped by indiscriminate shelling since the commissioner and military security did not allow civilians to take cover outside the town. The SPLA-N started what was termed “a massive land offensive” targeting military bases around Kadugli town at 2:00 PM of Tuesday and shelling the city with heavy artillery until 5:00 PM.
At least six houses were destroyed by the bombs in the city centre and a number of burned bodies were seen among the ruins.
The majority of the population fled their homes and gathered at the Sha’aear area, north of the town, on the road to Adleng and El Obeid.
