The mayor of Juba City Council urged the Church, the Scouts movement and the state’s government to a memorial to honour Manase Charles Ladu, the leader of Scouts movement in the country, who passed away last Thursday.
Mayor Mohamed Alhaj Baballah told the congregations during the funeral prayers in All Saints Cathedral in Juba on Monday that people often forget quickly individuals who contributed positively in the community.He urged the community to leave the habit of forgetting outstanding people when they die.
The mayor remarked that people come to the funeral on their throngs but two to three days later nobody remembers the dead.
Mr Baballah urged the Church, the scouts to do something in memory of Mr Charles to remind the next generations of the good things he did.
He said Mr Charles’ sudden death was a big blow to the entire society.
The Mayor said Mr Charles and his scouts were the first to assist people injured by shelling during the war and to bury the dead.
Manase Charles Ladu, the leader of Scout Movement in South Sudan, died on Thursday night of high blood pressure at Juba Teaching Hospital.
