At least every year 30 percent of girls do not complete studies due to heavy domestic chores in Leer County of Unity state.

James Tang Kueth, Leer Primary School Headmaster, said schools enrol many girls but early marriages, poverty and peer pressure force 30 percent out of school before they complete primary education, Internews reported.

He added that girls are also prevented from going to school in fear of being impregnated by either teachers or school mates.

Mr Tang said parents and guardians must take the key role to encourage girl child education.
