The three media bills will be on public discussion next week to be approved by the National Assembly.

MP Joy Kwaje Eluzai chairs the Committee of Information, Culture and Telecommunication in the National Legislative Assembly.

She told CRN that the committee is holding a three-day public hearing on the Broadcasting Corporation Bill, Media Authority Bill and Right of Access to Information Bill next week.

She said the conclusions from the public hearing will be merged with the results from a workshop her Committee organized on the media bills to be presented for the second reading at the House.

Ms Kwaje said her committee has scrutinized the bills in a three-day workshop with the help of experts.

She added that MPs went to Tanzania to see how the Tanzanian Media Council worked and should go to Kenya, Ghana and Zambia in a fact finding mission.

The three media bills were table to the parliament for the first reading and were referred to the Committee of Information, Culture and Telecommunication for scrutiny before the second reading.
