The Catholic Archdiocese of Juba is set to start the Year of the Faith on All Saints Day.

Vicar General Nicholas Kiri Bate told Bakhita Radio that the Pope declared the Year of the Faith from October 11 to November 24, 2013.

He explained that the Year of the Faith is an occasion for Christians to reflect on their relationship with God.

Fr Kiri said the Archdiocese of Juba chose November 1, All Saints Day, to open the Year of the Faith.

He added that the administration of the Archdiocese met with Solidarity with South Sudan on Thursday to draw the year-long programme.

The Year of the Faith marks the fiftieth anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council on October 11, 1962, and twentieth anniversary of the publication of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
