Workers and administrator staff from the ministry of Parliamentary Affairs of Western Bahr El Ghazal on Monday cleaned a large part of Loklokocemetery in Wau.

Parliamentary affairs Minister Peter Opio said the decision came after the call of the Parish Priest of St. Mary to prepare the cemetery for the celebration on November 2, Voice of Hope reported.

Mr Opio stressed that Muslims in the ministry volunteer to help their Christian brothers and sisters, reflecting tolerance in Wau.

He explained that the ministries, as a part of the community, shall ensure that they help the Church in the way that they can do.

Mr Opio added that those who died and are buried at the cemetery were citizens of the state.

He assured that the ministry will continue to support the Church.

Fr. Luis Assonjo, Parish priest of St. Mary, appreciated the role played by the Minister and his team.

He said as believers the people must know that the place where they will go is clean, and shall celebrate the brothers and sisters who passed away in a good environment.

Fr. Assonjo urged all institutions in the new nation to do the same around the country.

In Wau there are two Catholic cemeteries: one in Lokloko and the other along the Wau-Bussere road. Both are covered in grass.
