An indigenous civil society group organised two days of training on constitutional development to involve citizens at grassroots level on the preparation of the Permanent Constitution.

South Sudanese Network for Democracy and Election or SSuNDE Policy and Advocacy officer Taban Joseph Silvio told Bakhita Radio that the training equipped members from the ten states to go out and educates citizens about the Constitutional review process.

He said each team in the ten states is expected to conduct six community briefings and public forum meetings.

He added that in the community briefings stakeholders including paramount chiefs, and church, youth and women leaders will be invited.

Mr Joseph said SSuNDE wants citizens to contribute their views to the permanent Constitution in order to own the fundamental Charter.

He added that SSuNDE will collect citizens’ views on the Transitional Constitution and bring them to the Constitutional Review Commission.

Mr Joseph said the participants will enlighten citizens using local languages.
