The citizens of Northern Bahr el Ghazal in Juba this morning took to the street to demonstrate against the inclusion of mile 14 into the areas to be demilitarized between South Sudan and Sudan.
Handing the petition to the President, National Parliament and Council of states, Ateny Wek Ateny, member of Northern Bahr el Ghazal community told the crowd that his state rejects inclusion of mile 14 to the areas to the demilitarized zone.He accused Khartoum of signing the agreement under the pretext of annexingtheir area to Sudan.
Mr Wek revealed that the citizens of Northern Bahr el Ghazal endorsed all other agreements except the clause of mile 14 because it is deep inside their state not at the border.
Hundreds of people marched through the streets of Juba forcing vehicles out of the roads and people walked on foot to the parliament roundabout.
There were heroic songs sung by citizens of Northern Bahr el Ghazal joined by few members of South Sudan Civil Society Alliance.
