The Muslim community in Central Equatoria is organizing for a two-day conference to promote unity amongst the Islamic community and agree on guidelines and basic laws.

Juma Saeed Worju, who heads the Muslim community in the state, told the press Friday morning that the Muslims need to come together through a conference to agree on guidelines to regulate their lives, Bakhita Radio reported.

He said only the General Assembly that starts on Saturday has the authority to pass the laws for the new Islamic Council.

Mr Saeed said the conference will approve the guidelines and debate challenges and solutions for the Muslim community in Central Equatoria.

Mr Saeed said Muslims have the constitutional right to live their faith in South Sudan and they want to exercise it.

He added that the two-day conference will bring all the Muslims in Central Equatoria.

The conference costs 160 thousand South Sudanese Pounds.
