Seasonal flooding will have a significant effect on the performance of crops and livestock production this year affecting food security.

A UN Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) report released in September indicated that crop production has been greatly affected by the heavy rains leading to reduced production and raising food prices.

The report said there has also been a noticeable increase in livestock disease outbreaks and mortality from different diseases.

Floods have affected close to 260,000 people since June.
