Communities in Nuba Mountains were asked to feed teachers but some schools are struggling to open on time due to lack of food for their staff.

Kumbur Payam Education Supervisor Jargi Kumir Papa had strong words over lack of support for teachers.

He said in a meeting held with the headmasters and chiefs last month it was agreed that the communities would feed teachers.

Mr Kumir said a number of schools have already started lessons but in Kumbur food shortages were delaying the opening.

He urged parents to send children to school adding that the time for domestic affairs was over.

In Nuba Mountains, war destabilized schooling since its outbreak in June last year.
