The European Union has banned airplanes from all Sudan carriers from flying to its 27 countries.

European Transport Commissioner Siim Kallas said in a statement that the EU cannot accept airlines that do not fully comply with international safety standards, Reuters reported.

The Commission said all Sudanese carriers were banned from EU skies because the national authority continually failed to meet international safety standards.

The European Commission, which manages the blacklist of airlines, said the Angolan Airlines had improved and could fly some of its aircrafts to EU airports.
