The Directress for Nursing and Midwifery in Juba Teaching Hospital said some nurses are maltreating patients at the institution.

Anita Peter Modi told reporters Friday that some nurses and midwives did not practice their ethics, Bakhita Radio reported.

She affirmed that some nurses and midwives insult, beat and collect money illegally from patients.

Ms Peter asked patients and all who witness such acts to report immediately to administration.

She revealed that her office suspended a number of nurses and midwives for collecting money illegally from delivering mothers at the ward.

Ms Peter regretted such acts.

She also lamented the shortage of nurses and midwives to the ever growing number of patients flocking to Juba Teaching Hospital for treatment.
