Tensions remain high in Jonglei State, as fighting between the army and rebel militias continued into its third month in Pibor County.
The UN Security said fighting spread from Likuangole to Gumuruk and many civilians fled away from the violence across the Gumuruk River.Civilians started also leaving Pibor fearing a military confrontation between the army and Yau Yau’s forces.
Insecurity forced MSF-Belgium, the only medical NGO operating in Likuangole and Gumuruk, to suspend activities leaving up to 90,000 people deprived of essential medical assistance.
